ATLANTA, GA— No. 1 Georgia and No. 8 Alabama are battling the SEC crown and a spot in the College Football Playoff.
Both teams are coming off tight wins in rivalry week, with the Tide winning in miraculous fashion at the end versus Auburn.
Alabama will be without their leading rusher in Jase McClellan (foot). Georgia is returning offensive starters Brock Bowers (ankle), Ladd McConkey (ankle), and Tate Ratledge (knee) after they all missed last week’s contest against Georgia Tech.]
The Bulldogs will be without one of their top targets in Rara Thomas (foot). Thomas has been a reliable weapon for Carson Beck and has shown the ability to win 50-50 balls.
The Dawgs have plenty of weapons despite the loss, especially with the recent emergences of Kendall Milton and Dillon Bell.
KEYS TO THE GAME
KEEP JALEN MILROE IN THE POCKET
Jalen Milroe has improved his passing game every week this season, but he’s more explosive and dangerous as a runner. He is the most dynamic athlete with the ball in his hands, and his rushing ability opens up all other aspects of the Alabama offense.
Without Jamon Dumas-Johnson to. lead the front seven, Smael Mondon and C.J. Allen will have a tough task ahead of them. It will be an interesting chess match between the signal callers to see who will get the upper hand.
Alabama’s offensive line is one of the best units in the country, but the Dawgs defensive line needs to find a way to disrupt Milroe’s rhythm and keep him contained.
RED ZONE STOPS
Alabama has one of the best red zone offenses in the country in terms of scoring and and touchdown percentage. When the field gets condenses, the Georgia defense needs to cover all the bases and generate pass rush on Milroe.
Kirby Smart is one of the best coaches in the country in practicing situational football. Red zone stops and winning on third down will be key for the Dawgs today.
The offensive line is fully intact now with Ratledge and Mims solidifying the right side. Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey might not be 100%, but they are two of the best pass-catchers in the country regardless. Kendall Milton and Dillon Bell have stepped up big time towards the end of the regular season. Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint and Dominic Lovett have proven to be two of the most reliable receivers on the team. Daijun Edwards has proven to be effective as a runner and a pass-catcher.
Carson Beck has the arsenal to pick apart the Tide defense. Mike Bobo has plenty of playmakers that he can put in positions to succeed. This Georgia offense has put on some incredible performances so far this season, and they’re going to need everyone to score enough points to get the victory today
Final Score Prediction: Georgia 31 Alabama 27
