ATHENS—–The 12th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs continued preparations for their second straight SEC road game by conducting a two-hour practice Wednesday at the Club Sports Complex on Milledge Avenue.

Earlier in the day, Georgia’s Kirby Smart participated in the SEC Coaches weekly media teleconference. He said the Bulldogs are focused on another tough SEC road contest Saturday when they face #23 Ole Miss.

“Ole Miss is a talented football team that’s played a really tough schedule,” said Smart. “They have a lot of really good players. Oxford will be a great environment and an awesome SEC venue. We don’t have as much time to recover (after last Saturday’s night game in Columbia, Missouri), so we’re preaching recovery and getting ready for a hot, physical game Saturday.”

When asked about the play of the offensive line, Smart responded that they continue to be a work in progress, and that’s no different than any position on the team. He stressed they must get better as all units need to improve if Georgia is going to beat teams on its upcoming schedule.

Georgia holds a 32-12-1 series lead over the Rebels including winning the last 10 meetings. The teams haven’t faced each other since 2012, a 37-10 Bulldog victory in Athens. Georgia’s last visit to Oxford came in 2011, a 27-13 Georgia win.

Ole Miss senior quarterback Chad Kelly leads the SEC with 10 passing touchdowns while Rebel tight end Evan Engram leads all tight ends nationally with 20 receptions for 302 yards.

“He (Kelly) runs around making plays; he’s athletic and hard to get on the ground,” Smart said when asked about the Rebel quarterback. “He’s made some spectacular plays in his career, and he continues to do that now.”

Ole Miss enters Saturday’s game with a couple of close losses to top five ranked teams, dropping a 48-43 shootout to top-ranked Alabama last week and a season-opening 45-34 decision to then No. 4 Florida State in Orlando. Ole Miss led by three touchdowns in the first half of both games.

The Rebels (1-2, 0-1 SEC) play host to the Bulldogs (3-0, 1-0 SEC) with kickoff scheduled for Noon ET on ESPN.
