ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia sophomore Jake Fromm has been included as one of 16 semifinalists for the 2018 Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award.
Fromm, a native of Warner Robins, Ga., is one of only two quarterbacks from the Southeastern Conference included on the list. Fan voting at VoteOBrien.org is open and will remain open until Nov. 18. Fans are encouraged to vote for their pick for the nation’s top quarterback once daily per email address.
Three finalists for the Davey O’Brien Award will be released on Nov. 19. The 2018 winner will be announced live on The Home Depot College Football Awards on Dec. 6. The 42nd Annual Davey O’Brien Awards Dinner will be held Feb. 18, 2019, at The Fort Worth Club in Fort Worth, Texas.
Fromm has completed 130 of 192 passes this season for 1,762 yards and 17 touchdowns to go with only four interceptions. He is hovering around the school record for completion percentage (67.9, Hutson Mason, 2014) with a 67.7 mark and is ranked second in the SEC in 2018. This season, Fromm has led the Bulldogs to an 8-1 overall record and a 3-1 record versus Top 25 teams, including two straight victories coming into this weekend’s home showdown with No. 24 Auburn.
Fromm is ranked fifth nationally on the active list in passing efficiency at 164.0. He was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week after going 17-for-24 for 240 yards and three scores during Georgia’s second straight win over No. 9 Florida on Oct. 27.
The No. 5 Bulldogs (8-1, 6-1 SEC) play host to No. 24 Auburn (6-3, 3-3 SEC) on Saturday. ESPN will televise the matchup at 7 p.m.
