ATHENS, Ga- No. 1 ranked Georgia (10-0, 8-0 SEC) leads Charleston Southern (4-5, 3-4 BSC) 49-0 in front of a Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium crowd. The 49 first half points for the Bulldogs would tie a Georgia record for most points in a half.

 

Stetson Bennett finished the half 8-for-14 passing with 105 yards and 2 touchdowns as well as an interception. JT Daniels entered the game at quarterback early in the second quarter with the game already out of hand and finished 7-of-10 passing with 73 yards and a touchdown.

 

Zamir White led the charge on the ground as he finished with 83 rushing yards on just 4 carries. James Cook followed behind with 59 yards on 6 carries. Brock Bowers led all Bulldog pass catchers with 4 receptions for 36 yards and 2 touchdowns.

 

7 different Bulldog defenders tied for the team lead in tackles for a Bulldog defense that forced 8 punts and did not allow a first half point.

 

Georgia’s second possession of the day began with a 40-yard rush by James Cook. Kenny McIntosh and Zamir White followed with several successful rushes to set the Bulldogs up inside the Buccaneer 2-yard line. Senior defensive tackle Jordan Davis then ran onto the field and took back-to-back carries as he found the endzone for the first time in his Bulldog career giving Georgia an early 7-0 lead.

 

Following a short Buccaneer punt, the Bulldog’s third possession saw them going for it on fourth down and scoring as Kenny McIntosh took a tailback screen 32-yards for a touchdown. Just 5-plays later, Zamir White would take the opening play of the Bulldog’s next possession 40-yards giving the Bulldog’s a 21-0 lead in the first quarter.

 

Kearis Jackson would take the next Buccaneer punt 41-yards before being tripped at the Charleston Southern 23-yard line. Brock Bowers followed by taking a reverse 19-yards and a tight end screen 4-yards into the endzone for his team-leading 7th touchdown reception on the season. The Bulldog’s ensuing possession saw the 5th different player to find the endzone as James Cook found the endzone from 8-yards out giving Georgia a 35-0 lead with just under 14 minutes remaining in the half.

 

With JT Daniels in at quarterback, the Bulldog offense moved the ball 51-yards and into the endzone as Daniels connects with Brock Bowers from 7-yards out to extend the lead 42-0. Following the 6th forced three-and-out and a 33-yard punt return by Ladd McConkey, Georgia would begin their 9th drive of the half at the Buccaneer 35-yard line. On the drive’s 7th play, running back Daijun Edwards would find endzone from 6-yards out making him the 6th different player to find the endzone. The score would tie a Bulldog record for most points in a half as Georgia would lead 49-0 with just under 2 minutes remaining in the half.

 

The next drive for Charleston Southern would begin with just under 2 minutes remaining in the half. With the Bulldog defensive starters out, Charleston Southern would run the ball three times as the game clock would run out.
