ATHENS—–The Georgia Bulldogs continued preparations for their SEC Homecoming date with Vanderbilt by conducting a two-hour practice Wednesday at the Club Sports Complex on Milledge Avenue.

Earlier in the day, Georgia’s Kirby Smart participated in the SEC Coaches weekly media teleconference. He said the Bulldogs are looking forward to being back at Sanford Stadium as this will mark just the third home game for Georgia this year.

“The team is fired up to play at home again, and we will face a well-coached Vanderbilt team,” said Smart. “It’s nice to bring all the old players back for Homecoming too.”

He was asked about the play of sophomore wide receiver Terry Godwin and senior linebacker Chuks Amaechi this season.

“Terry has improved as a player, and he’s gotten a little more physical and playing with more toughness,” said Smart. “His blocking is better, and he continues to grow. This year, Isaiah (McKenzie) has come about and been a good compliment to him. As the year goes and Jacob (Eason) develops, we will use Terry more.

“As far as Chuks, he’s very flexible, he can play defensive end, pass rush and stand up and play linebacker.” Smart added. “His biggest quality has been helping on special teams with our punt and kickoff coverage teams. He works very hard, and we’re very thankful we got him. He’s one of our seniors and a leader.”

The Bulldogs (4-2, 2-2 SEC) face the Commodores (2-4, 0-3 SEC) here Saturday with kickoff scheduled for 12:01 p.m. on the SEC Network. Tickets are still available at $65 each and can be ordered online or by calling the UGA Athletic Association Ticket Office at 1-877-542-1231 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.
